New Delhi: The 12-year manhunt for a murder accused who masqueraded as a Jain ends with his arrest in Uttar Pradesh Padang. Jamshed Ali Khan was identified as the defendant.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sanjay Sain said the murder took place on January 6, 2009. His hands and legs were tied with clothes. Homicide Registered.
The deceased was identified as Santosh Yadavhe works as a driver for a private company in ICD Tughlaqabad.
During the course of the investigation, five men – Kesar Ali, Wazid Ali, Asim Ali and Mohd Shakeel – were arrested along with the mastermind, Jamshed Ali Khan, who robbed Yadav’s container containing “plastic alms” and took them on board Killed him after his elevator. During the trial, Khan was released on bail in 2012 and absconded.
The DCP said that during the investigation, they found that Khan was hiding in Badong.
“The team laid a trap in Sehswan area of Badaun and eventually traced Khan. When he came to meet his aides, he was successfully arrested from Bahwanipur Heru village,” the DCP added.
Khan was involved in a theft case in Nangloi in 2010. He works as a part-time “tantrik” in the area.
