Mumbai: Long queues witnessed in some areas of Mumbai The third phase of LS election in Maharashtra ended yesterday where the waiting time for voting ranged from 1 to 3 hours.
It was very uncomfortable due to the heat and stifling humidity. Similarly, it has been reported that voting was disrupted at a few places because EVMs failed and there were power cuts.
They also said they had gone home without casting their votes.
Election Commission of India (ECI) has been biased towards the ruling party said Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday, May 4th. He added that Election Commission shouldn’t protect or favour any political party or leader instead it should stand neutral in order to uphold electoral fairness. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray accused the Election Commission of India (ECI) of acting one-sidedly.
As per Rajendra Kshirsagar, the district collector for suburban Mumbai, a sudden influx of voters between 9 am and noon caused long queues at some polling centers. Nevertheless, he dismissed claims that there was no water or shade at the venue. Besides, Sanjay Yadav admitted “There were issues; for instance, massive crowds in Sion Koliwada area as well as depletion of bottled water at Seri polling station but we did not waste any time while settling them down”.
However, some voters may have different thoughts from others. In particular, people waited for almost three and a half hours yet left without casting their votes.
She went to Wadala Dosti Banquet Hall polling booth to caste her vote only to find out that facilities are woefully inadequate there. At 7 am-10 am she and her sister along with their elderly mother stood unitedly in queue for three hours.” No water no shade no fans no chairs for seniors,” she claimed.
