New Delhi: chief of naval staff of india Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi will visit Mumbai on Friday to investigate the December 18 collision between a new naval speedboat and a ferry.
The Chief of Naval Staff plans to inspect the waters near Mumbai Port where the incident occurred and later visit the injured personnel recovering at INHS Ashwini Naval Hospital.
He will receive a full and detailed briefing on the incident.
A committee of inquiry has been set up to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Search and rescue operations in the area are still ongoing, according to Navy officials.
A ferry carrying 110 people, including children and crew, was en route to Elephant Island from Mumbai’s iconic India Gate when it was hit by a navy speedboat.
The incident took place near Karanja Ulam around 6:30 pm and left several people dead.
