At a meeting held on Saturday, the district council discussed preparations for the event. “We have the largest democracy The government plans to organize a massive human chain from Bidar to Chamarajanagar on September 15 to celebrate the International Democracy Day in a unique way by spreading democratic values along the way,” she said.
As part of the initiative, a human chain will be organized in the district, which will span 100 km from Shirur village in Byndoor taluk to Hejamadi village in Kaup taluk and involve more than one lakh participants from 26 gram panchayat. The event will involve the youth, public, organizations, elected representatives, ASHA workers and Anganwadi workers. A supervisor will be appointed for every 100 meters in the chain and the tahsildars will supervise the arrangements at the taluk level. Immediately afterwards, the Preamble to the Constitution will be recited and participants will be provided with water, beverages and sweets.
Participants will have access to an online registration system and they will receive a photo certificate. The District Council calls for massive participation from the public, organizations and institutions. The Health Bureau will station ambulances with medical personnel in various locations to respond to emergencies, and the police station will ensure adequate security. Schools and colleges are encouraged to actively promote student engagement.
Stage events will be held at the district level and elected representatives will be invited as per the agreement. The event will feature bands, stage performances, cultural performances and active participation from students, the public and organizations. DC emphasized the need for proper preparation for these events.
Officials were directed to ensure widespread publicity of the event and effective use of social media. A committee will be formed at the taluk level to discuss and coordinate preparations to ensure the success of the programme.
The meeting was also attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Mamatha Devi G, Additional SP Siddalingappa, Deputy Minister of Social Welfare Anita Madlur, Udupi CMC Commissioner Rayappa and other officials.
