Following the win over SRH in the IPL final, KKR’s camp was in a festive mood.
KKR bowling coach Bharat Arun could not hide his joy for the performance of his bowlers. “The last two years have been quite difficult, I must say; we almost did not qualify. It demanded a lot of soul searching and now we can only enjoy this moment. (On Harshit Rana) He is outstanding. He is about supporting one’s own ability.”
Arun, talking about Mitchell Starc said “I think Mitchell coming into the team boosted the confidence of other youngsters in the side. He is perhaps among the topmost bowlers globally. Once he started understanding Indian conditions, he was on top of it all. Spinners grow better with time and space and with Sunny and Varun being on top together it was fantastic.”
Batsman-wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz who abandoned his sick mum just to feature for few matches at finals stated “My mom is watching from the home. She feels better now. I asked mom before the match if she wanted anything. She told me just winning it. When Phil Salt was playing, I wasn’t expecting to get a chance but I knew it’s a long tournament and I had to be ready.Once I got that chance, I prepared well.”
Batsman Nitish Rana had something interesting to share.“GG bhaiya(Gambhir) was named mentor, I sent him a long message as i was damn happy. He replied back,”Thank you but would be happy if we stood there on podium with trophy in our hands”. It is today my friend..and such days doesn’t leave my memory.”
