The goddess statue of Brakshmi Temple located in Rakshapuram area under the jurisdiction of Santosh Nagar police station in Hyderabad was destroyed by some unknown person Monday evening. Two suspects have been arrested in relation to this case by the police.
A large crowd of people gathered at the spot and raised slogans after this incident happened.
South East DCP Kanti Lal Patil said, “This incident took place between 11.30 pm and 12 am on Monday night within the limits of Santhoshnagar Police Station. The police responded instantly through CCTV cameras and apprehended two suspects.” “One of them is main accused, while investigation is going on.”
He added that they had names for those individuals during a preliminary check.
“We are going to catch all those who masterminded this attack,” he added. “Two suspects were apprehended immediately.” He further stated that there is currently no evidence suggesting a politically motivated assault was behind it.
BJP Bhagyanagar district president Samreddy Surender Reddy said the incident occurred in Riyasat Nagar area of Chandrayangutta assembly constituency which falls under Rakshapuram colony. Borakshmi temple
He said, “The idol of Goddess Bhoolaxmi was vandalized. Local corporation and its people did that. This is not the first time such an incident has happened. For 5 years this has been happening. The temple was attacked. The same thing happened in Vinayak mandap two years ago and they are trying to break law and order this time.”
He also said that the temple is only 50 square yards away from the police station.
“The police regularly patrol here, but there was no patrol today. Two people were arrested, but they were not the main culprits. The police said two people were arrested, but they have been placed by the company owner. Company owner plus the owner of a pot shop near to temple should be interrogated,” he added.
