According to Chakraborty, who also acted as a TMC MP, she has been threatened with rape. This followed her constant social media protests related to the case of rape and murder beyond bounds in RG Kar Medical College and Hospitals in Kolkata.
The actress took to social media platform X where she shared a screenshot of threatening comments that had been posted on an Instagram post.
“We should stand for women’s rights, right? This is just one side of the coin; many men have normalized the issue of rape through their attacks under masks of support to women. What kind of environments have they grown up in?” Chakraborty wrote on “X”.
Chakraborty, who was a Member of Parliament from Jadavpur Lok Sabha constituency between 2019 and 2024, lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime Unit of Kolkata Police showing two threatening messages about raping her on social media.
So far there are no arrests made in this respect.
A nationwide protest was triggered by acts committed at RG Kar medical college when on August 9th A post graduate trainee doctor got raped and murdered.
