At Daburji village Amritsar, two individuals shot an unidentified non-resident Indian (NRI) at his residence and escaped after seriously wounding him.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Harpal Singh, about one month ago two men came up to the home of Sukhchain Singh who had just returned from the United States. They inquired about the process of registering a person. He said they were behaving suspiciously and because of this Sukhchan was forced to seek refuge at his own residence.
After that, while his mother and kids pleaded with them, the two attackers started shooting at Sukhchain from close range. The entire incident was recorded on CCTV.
“The assailants wanted to terminate him but due to pistol lock failure their attempt collapsed which led them to leave the scene,” Harpal revealed.
The victim received two gunshot wounds and has been rushed to hospital where he is undergoing treatment and is now stable.
“We have initiated an inquiry into it and expect sooner or later arresting the culprit,” added ADCP while stating preliminary investigations suggest there could be a family dispute behind this attack on Mr. Sukhchain Singh.
On Saturday around 7 am those assailants arrived as per local resident Paramjit Singh. At that time wife, mother and two children of Sukhchain Singh were present inside the house
