Basketball icon Bob Love is no more. The former Chicago Bulls forward and three-time All-Star who had an 11-season NBA career died Monday. When the Bulls confirmed his death, fans and players flooded the Internet with condolences. Love left a remarkable legacy and had a lasting impact on the game of basketball before retiring.
Michael Jordan’s ex-wife Juanita Vanoy recently took to her Instagram Stories to share her heartfelt tribute to the legend. “RIP,” she wrote.
Several NBA legends also expressed condolences for Love’s passing. Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal also paid heartfelt tributes to the NBA legend on Tuesday night. “It’s an incredible story,” Buckley said. “We talked about this on the podcast today: I always think it’s really important for me and Kenny and Shaq and all the guys that are going forward and have been in the game to thank those guys for doing all the heavy lifting. We’re blessed, Be blessed for having people like this.
He went on to add, “We lost Bill Walton, the great Oscar Robertson. I think it’s always important for us to thank these older guys for enabling us to have a great life.”
O’Neal responded when participating in a conversation with Inside The NBA staff: “First of all, I express my condolences to his family. I have heard the name before, but I have never seen him play. I agree with (Charles), It is important for us to thank those who paved the way for us.
Love averaged 21.3 points and 6.8 rebounds in nine seasons with the Chicago Bulls. Following his sudden passing, the Bulls paid a heartfelt tribute to the legend’s astonishing career. “His No. 10 jersey hangs in the rafters of the United Center and his accomplishments on the court will forever be etched in history, but Bob’s impact transcended basketball,” the Bulls said in a statement.
