Ghaziabad: A 25-year-old man detained by police Ghaziabad Police on Tuesday allegedly assaulted and abused a government doctor, nurse and ward boy during a medical examination.
The suspect was undergoing a medical examination when the incident occurred. During the examination, he reportedly became aggressive and began physically assaulting the medical staff.
According to police, the accused has been identified as Ashutosh Garg,resident Nehru Nagar, Sihani Gate.
Abhishek SrivastavaACP’s Kavi Nagarsaid the accused was arrested on Monday night in a drunk driving case.
“When the police checked him with a breath analyzer, he was drunk and they took him to the regional hospital in the 23rd arrondissement. Sanjay Nagar. While medical staff were taking blood samples from him, he became aggressive and began behaving inappropriately towards the medical staff. He slapped the ward boy and tried to hit the nurse, Dr. Gaurav Parashar,” he said.
“A complaint has been lodged regarding this matter pujaA head nurse, who later lodged an FIR with Kavi Nagar police station under BNS Section 121 (Intentionally causing harm or grievous harm to prevent a public servant from discharging his duty), Section 132 (Assault or criminal force to prevent a public servant from discharging his duty) and Section 352 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of the peace),” he said.
Police sources said the accused was sitting in his i20 car and was returning home after partying with friends. During this time, the defendant collided with a stationary car, after which an unknown person notified the police. Subsequently, the defendant was sent to the hospital for examination.
