Visakhapatnam: Parvatipuram Manyam District police arrests 36-year-old man for impersonating IPS officer during Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan KalyanRecently visited Parvathipuram Manyam district.
The impersonator is B Surya Prakash, a native of Garividi area of Vizianagaram district. Surya Prakash told the villagers that he was selected as an IPS officer a year ago and served as ASP and claimed that his attendance at Pawan Kalyan’s visit to Parvathipuram Manyam district on December 20 was part of his job.
During the minister’s visit, Surya Prakash neither met Pawan Kalyan nor escorted the minister’s convoy. On December 20, the imposter came to the parking lot of the Council of Ministers wearing a police uniform and interacted with several police officers at the scene.
Assuming Surya Prakash was a real police officer, police personnel in the parking lot took photos with the imposter. Police said the imposter left the place even before Pawan Kalyan’s visit ended.
Later, Surya Prakash uploaded pictures of himself with other police personnel during the minister’s visit on WhatsApp. However, someone noticed Surya Prakash’s WhatsApp status and informed the police that Surya Prakash was a fake police officer.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Surya Prakash served as an Army soldier for several years and later performed some work as a civil contractor and as an outsourced employee in the legal metrology department. The property dispute between Surya Prakash’s family and others was the reason why Surya Prakash pretended to be a police officer to obtain the property dispute by threatening others.
