A private banker sales executive A 21-year-old woman in Sangli was allegedly killed on Sunday by slashing her throat and stabbing her abdomen several times. Hed taluka late Sunday night, after the latter rejected the proposal.
The offense occurred around her shared house in Amberson Village. Over which the council has jurisdiction, according to Maharenge MIDC Police. Six hours later on Pune-Bangalore Highway at Kalad, pimprijingerward Crime squad arrested him. Amongst them was the mobile phone belonging to the murdered victim.

Karat’s parents objected his marriage proposal. She works for a private company based in Mahalunge MIDC.
According to a roommate of the deceased, “we were about going to sleep when that guy came knocking at our door. But we blocked him otherwise he could have got inside.” He then walked away with her phone after telling her to come out because he would like talking with her alone.
At once Karat walked some distance away with the girl while others waited for her outside the building.
She fell into a pool of blood as per what roommates told us.
Pimpri Chinchwad DCP Shivaji Pawar stated that “the victim’s roommate noticed Kharat running without any sign of return by his friend; she alerted other roommates who all rushed there only to find a woman lying there Inside” She was killed in this way: stab wound in stomach and cut across throat.”
Friends of the deceased called police officers who took her to a private nursing home nearby which she died upon arrival. “He earlier underwent training at Mahalunge MIDC based private firm and moved another one before four months ago”, added he.
Police collected information quickly and started tracing Kalat thereafter. “After getting an input about killing we immediately sent our team there to check. A team was rushed to Sangli and another team started scanning the CCTV footage of the spot. Karat had turned off his victim’s mobile phone but as it happened, we had motorcycle number plates hence we began looking for them,” said Crime Branch Inspector Shailesh Gaikwad.
Police were informed that the motorcycle was found on its way to Karad. “A team immediately went after him, however, when our officers blocked him on the road. He tried escaping by riding his two-wheeler toward one of my constables who sustained minor injuries. Although our team sustained slight injury in this attack,” explained Gaikwad.
“He was then handed over to Mahalunge MIDC police,” he noted.
The Indian Penal Code filed a case under section 103(1) (murder) and 351 (criminal intimidation).
