The Kumbh Mela 2025, which will kick off in Prayagraj on January 13, will use cutting-edge technology to manage the huge influx of tourists. To improve crowd management, modern technologies such as artificial intelligence cameras, RFID wristbands and mobile app tracking will be used to track the movements of pilgrims during the 45-day event. This will enable authorities to track entry and exit times with the consent of participants, thereby effectively managing crowds.
Uttar Pradesh Minister Suresh Khanna praised the technological advancements at the event, which included an artificial intelligence chatbot in 11 languages, QR code passes and an integrated lost and found facility. ICT monitoring will also include sanitation, tent allocation and inventory management, using drone surveillance and automated systems to ensure seamless operations. In addition, 101 smart parking facilities will be built, which can accommodate 500,000 cars, and parking efficiency will be greatly improved compared with previous years.

A particularly interesting initiative “Netra Kumbh” will be launched to provide free eye examinations to approximately half a million pilgrims with a target of distributing three hundred thousand pairs of spectacles. The initiative attempts to break the world record for the number of people undergoing eye exams at a single event, surpassing a previous effort to gain a spot in the Limca Book of World Records. Netra Kumbh will open on January 5 and will be spread across 10 acres. The event is sponsored by a network of 240 hospitals in India, with over 140 doctors providing care throughout the event.

Arrangements have also been made to ensure that doctors from across India receive proper accommodation and meals, including dedicated quarters for women doctors and separate spaces for workers and pilgrims. Events include eye donation camps and facilities to ensure all participants receive high-quality eyewear that will benefit their health and well-being.
