Madikeri: The main district and magistrate court sentenced Tarini (46) and her son Dalani Kumar (22) to life imprisonment for the murder of Uttakumar, a villager in Peraj. Each accused was also fined Rs 1 lakh and sentenced to three years’ imprisonment for destroying evidence and fined Rs 10,000.
The incident occurred on May 8, 2020, when Tarini and Dharani Kumar There was a dispute with Uttakumar. The argument got heated and they attacked him with sharp weapons, killing him on the spot.
The police, led by the then police inspector Diwakar, arrested the two persons on May 9, 2020.
Chief District Judge Hosamani Pundalik delivered the verdict on December 12, 2024. Kodagu SP K Ramarajan said public prosecutor K G Ashwini was representing the government during the trial.
