New Delhi: Before you begin winter session of parliamentLok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday morning said the Constitution should stay away from politics as it remains a social document and a source of social and economic change.
“The Constitution is our strength. It is our social document. It is because of this Constitution that we have brought social and economic changes and respected the poor, poor and backward people of the society. Today, people of the world read the Constitution of India , understand its ideology and how we exercised our right to vote of all classes, all castes without any discrimination at that time ke dayre main nahi lana chahiye (that is why the constitution should stay away from politics),” Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla told ANI.
He said that no government of any political party or ideology can weaken the basic spirit (or structure) of the Constitution. Birla added that the constitution changes from time to time but always to meet the rights and aspirations of the people.
The Speaker of the Lok Sabha responded to opposition accusations that the government would amend the constitution. The Speaker of the Lok Sabha further said that the amendment of the constitution is also for social transformation.
“The constitution is revised from time to time for the people’s wishes and rights and (to maintain) transparency. It is also revised for social transformation. But no political party, no government has tampered with the basic spirit of the constitution.” This is why the judiciary has the right to review To maintain the basic structure, therefore, in our country, no government with any political party ideology can tamper with the basic spirit of the Constitution.
“The Prime Minister has always said that the deprived, poor and backward people of the society still need reservation and therefore the government works in accordance with the basic ideas of the Constitution so that their lives can flourish and society can transform in their lives,” he added.
The Lok Sabha Speaker said rules and traditions provide direction and vision, stressing the importance of maintaining decorum.
“Rules and traditions give the vision, give the direction. That’s why Babasaheb said then that it depends on those who have faith in the Constitution and those who implement it. Even today, whether it is the Constitution or Parliament, we There should be high standards of decorum in behavior and the higher the standards of behavior and thinking, the more we enhance the dignity of the institution…I believe a lot depends on the behavior and conduct of the members,” Birla said.
The Lok Sabha Speaker, while addressing the Constitution Day, which is scheduled to be celebrated on November 26, said the day is a day to remember the sacrifice and devotion of Babasaheb Ambedkar. Birla informed that President Drupadi Murmu would recite the Preamble of the Constitution.
“We adopted the Constitution on November 26, a day that commemorates the sacrifices and devotion of Babasaheb Ambedkar and the people who framed our Constitution. In its 75 years of democracy, Indian democracy has also has been strengthened and democracy has matured. I hope that this Constitution Day will become a mass movement where we all express our gratitude to the Constitution and the people who contributed to it by fulfilling its basic duties and responsibilities.
