The only regional party that participated in the Lok Sabha election, Revolutionary Target Party (RGP), did nothing to influence the outcome of the election. The party could not even reach up to the 10% vote share it commanded during the parliamentary elections of 2022.
In a shocker, RGP garnered over 93000 votes and bagged one seat during the state assembly polls of 2022. However, the Lok Sabha elections proved to be a disappointment for this party as they won only 64,578 votes.
North Goa RGP Director Hand of Prabhu polled better with 45693 votes while South Goa candidate Robert Pereira Could not make any headway in minority dominated areas finishing with less than twenty thousand votes at eighteen thousand eight hundred eighty five against nearly two hundred thousand winner Congressman Viriato Fernandez.
The party had a debut Lok Sabha election of about 7% of the total votes. According to a political analyst, voters appeared disinterested in issues about preserving Goan identity and safeguarding Goans’ rights because these were an election on whom should be India’s next Prime Minister.
