The Chief Minister serves as head of the Council of Ministers and is answerable to the Legislative Assembly. They are elected for five-year terms and preside indefinitely as long as they enjoy the confidence of the Parliament.
A few days back, Deputy Chief Minister Atishi Marlena Singh was elected next Chief Minister of Delhi by chief Kejriwal after party deliberations.
Arvind Kejriwal stepped down on Tuesday after his meeting with Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena. Atish who occupies number of renowned positions was elected as the third female CM of Delhi after Sushma Swaraj and Sheila Dikshit, and the first to this post. The youngest in that position so far.
