Among the cricket fraternity of Pakistan, Umar Akmal has become the topic of discussion on social media as he misspelled Kolkata Knight Riders while congratulating them for their third IPL title.
Sunrisers Hyderabad were hammered by KKR by 8 wickets in a one-sided final at Chennai that saw them win a trophy after a decade.
Akmal also joined in with other well-wishers celebrating the team’s championship. Unfortunately, he spelled KKR wrong, and this led to some very hilarious comments on social media.
“Congratulations to IPL for winning 3rd KKR,” wrote one user humorously.
“Winning to third KKL conhrjulation trophy.” wrote another user on Akmal’s message.
“KKL to congratulations on IPL third winning trophy. Lord Umar.” wrote another
“Daru pike twitter mt chalao bhai,” said someone else.
“KKR likhna sikh jaao pehle fir hashtag banana,” said another one.
“Bhai ye KKL kaunsi team hai? Lord Umar Akmal is being Umar Akmal,” said another user.
“You just woke up after more than 24 hours,” wrote another user.
To claim their third title, Mitchell Starc bowled an outstanding first over (spell) against KKR.
During the last match, Kolkata dismissed Hyderabad for a total of 113 runs which is IPL’s lowest score ever recorded; Australia’s left-arm fast bowler Starc finished with figures of 2/14 from his four overs in what was billed as the most expensive T20 tournament worldwide – thus living up to his star billing.
For $2.98m in December auction Starc came back to Kolkata and performed outstandingly picking three wickets off therefor34 including a man-of-the-match performance during play-offs against Sunrisers Hyderabad again .
Kolkata had it easy in batting and even with Sunil Narine’s early dismissal, Rahmanullah Gurbaz who made 39 and an unbeaten 52 off Venkatesh Iyer guided their team to beat SRH by 9.3 overs left after a partnership of 91.
