New Delhi: Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena said on Tuesday that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has maintained a “deafening silence” over the alleged attack on AAP Rajya Sabha members. Swati Maliwal “It fully illustrates his stance on women’s safety.”
He said that the proceedings relating to attackers of Maliwal would soon reach its logical conclusion.
Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal alleged in a PCR call that Kejriwal’s PA Bibhav Kumar attacked her at the Chief Minister’s residence. But, she left after receiving some phone calls and told police she’d be back. Following which Kumar was arrested, she later filed an FIR.
Saxena said on Tuesday, “I am deeply saddened by the reports in the media over the past few days of the attack on Swati Maliwal during a private meeting with the chief minister at his residence.” Yesterday, she came out of my house. Yu called me in extreme distress and detailed her traumatic experience and subsequent intimidation and humiliation from her colleagues. She also expressed concerns about reported tampering of evidence and coercion,” he said.
“He however added that while Maliwal was loud, hostile, and blatantly partisan towards me or my office often making irrational criticisms about me; any act committed against her physical violence or harassment is unforgivable and intolerable.” He continued saying that “What is most disturbing is that it happened in their living room when they were both present inside their homes; but yet a woman was violated,” he added.
“She made this statement before Union Member of Parliament (Sanjay Singh) who corroborated it under full glare of cameras guaranteeing firm action taken by chief minister against his aide – kumar bibhav.” Then it took a twist. Moreover it seems strange because top people asked for relocation,’ he noted.
This matter should have been cleared by my CM instead of being slippery as if nothing happened. “There is a lot to this situation as the silence over women’s safety can tell,” Saxena concluded.
Delhi Police is investigating the matter and “I guarantee that this matter will be taken to its logical conclusion,” he said.
