NEW DELHI: This time around, Kolkata Knight Riders have secured the first place in the 2024 Indian Premier League points table.
KKR’s top-of-the-table finish was confirmed after Punjab Kings defeated Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday thus becoming leaders by default upon completion of league stage.
Rajasthan Royals, who were the only team capable of competing with KKR for the number one position finished their fourth defeat in a row before they can even think of being among top two teams.KKR has done brilliantly so far and they have been leading all others in this tournament till now. With 9 wins and 3 defeats from their thirteen games, two-time champions got 19 points which ensures that no team is better than them.
The final game between RR and KKR which is scheduled to take place on May19,2024 at Guwahati will decide not just standings but also playoff placements.
Punjab Kings had already been out of playoffs race; hence it was a consolatory win for them alone.
