Calcutta High Court on Tuesday named Sandeep Ghosh as principal of a government medical college for another person. This happened despite the fact that he had quit as the Principal of RG Kar Medical College due to public uproar over rape and murder of an intern doctor.
The Chief Justice asked the division bench of Calcutta High Court: “How can this person, who resigned due to ethical reasons, be appointed as the head of another government university?”
Ghosh was directed to file his Leave Application in the registry by 3 pm.
The court also told lawyers that they should treat Ghosh as a suspect number one given his previous position. The same Bench posed various questions to State Council from West Bengal Government.
“Why protect him? Just record his statement and let them all come out.”
Chief Justice division bench ordered copy of Case Diary concerning this matter must be available in court by 1pm that day.
