
KOLKATA: Kolkata police on Thursday arrested nine people for mob violence during protests at RG KAR Hospital, where a trainee doctor was brutally raped and murdered.
Unidentified miscreants broke into the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital shortly after midnight on Thursday, causing damage to parts of the facility.
The vandalism occurred during a late-night protest by women.
West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose on Thursday visited RG Kar Medical College and Hospital to assess the situation after unidentified miscreants vandalized the premises.
Bose also met protesting junior doctors at the facility, where the body of a postgraduate trainee doctor was found last week.
