Korean actor Kim Sun Ho is set to make his comeback to the small screen with his new series Tyrant’, which premieres on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. Poster Monday, July 8, 2024 underlines the excitement for this long awaited production.
Tyrant is a story about a covert South Korean government program that seeks to enhance human abilities using advanced scientific specimens. Once American intelligence learned of the program’s existence, it was urgently demanded that it be shut down and all specimens surrendered. However, during the handover process, one essential specimen disappears; hence a race with unknown ensuing consequences between two countries in attempt to prevent a wrong person from finding it.
The lead cast includes Kim Sun Ho who takes up the position of Artistic Director Cui Guozhang who is at the center of this hidden strategy. Also involved are Jo Yoon-Soo as Chae Ja-Gyeong tasked with stealing remaining samples and Cha Seung-Won as Im-Sang who is A merciless mercenary hired by an unknown party to eliminate everyone implicated in the plan. Kim Kang-woo portrays Paul, an experienced US intelligence agent.
Disney+ also released an interesting poster along with its release date that perfectly goes along with the intriguing concept of the show. The poster ominously states ‘’The Last Sample Has Disappeared’’ against a background of fiery reds and deep blues; this hints at one central enigma driving forward this narrative.
Kim Sun-ho’s highly anticipated return to television after three years in 2021 following his role in ‘Hometown Cha Cha’ marks “Tyrant”. His former girlfriend accused him of forcing her into having an abortion. In 2023, Sun Ho returned to the entertainment industry with an action thriller titled “The Young Master,” paving way for his much anticipated return back in “The King.”
