New Delhi: Registered Flight Information Region member of congress and former minister Vinay Kulkarni Regarding the rape allegation, kidnappingPolice said Wednesday it involved criminal intimidation.
They said a case was registered after a 34-year-old social worker at Sanjay Nagar police station lodged a complaint alleging that the Dharwad MLA made phone calls and video calls to her.
Police said the legislator was named as accused No. 1 and his close aide Arjun as accused No. 2 in the FIR.
The woman claimed that she met the MLA in 2022 and accused Kulkarni of calling her and having vulgar conversations.
She alleged that he took her to a deserted area near Kempegowda International Airport in Devanahalli and raped and sexually assaulted her in his car. He also threatened her to keep quiet.
Based on her complaint, a case was registered against the MLA under the Information Technology Act and other sections for rape, kidnapping, criminal intimidation, causing disappearance of evidence, voluntarily causing hurt and assault or criminal violence on a woman with intent to commit crime according to the police said, which offended her modesty.
