Vice President Harris, 59, however has recently endeared herself to many active voters in such a way that President Biden has not done during these times of heightened concerns about his ability to win.
Harris reaches out via hug social media trends as Biden exits presidential race Inspired by pop star Charli XCX brat album cover. In fact, the Democratic presidential candidate made reference to the album in her campaign account and even renamed it “Kamala Headquarters.”
Charli’s rebranding followed shortly after he tweeted “Kamala is a brat” once Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the White House race and endorsed him as vice president.
By Monday, Harris had embraced Ron’s support completely by changing her photo to a new one with lime green shades identical to those of Brat’s cover.
What is ‘little brother’?
For Charlie however, it was more than just a lime green square with ‘brat’ written in low resolution Arial font at its centre; it’s an imagery of someone who can be “having cigarettes inside my pocket/A Bic lighter/and no bra white strappy top,” thus rejecting the social-media trend towards the “clean girl” aesthetic movement towards something more rebellious and hedonistic instead.
“You’re like that girl who’s kinda messy but likes going out and saying dumb things,” Charlie says in the video.
This #bratsusummer trend has taken over social media with nearly one million posts tagged under this theme including businesses adopting lime green theme across platforms.
A section of Harris’ supporters have also started creating videos that combine clips from speeches they’ve given together with songs from Charli’s album in a bid to urge Joe Biden to drop out of the race following his ongoing series of public gaffes. As an example, during a White House event held in 2023, Vice President Harris told her mother’s story ending with “you must know where you come from.”
At Kamala’s headquarters X account also began retweeting memes and adding expletives to appeal to young voters that now see her as the “cool girl” choice.
