
New Delhi: Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Brajesh Pathak on Saturday condemned the elaborate arrangements made before visiting the fire-hit Jhansi hospital where 10 newborns died and asked the district magistrate to be strict with those who did the job action.
Pathak said in a video message: “Before I reached Jhansi Medical College, someone was spreading lime powder on the roadside. This is very sad. I condemn it. Also, I will ask the district magistrate to find out who this person is. identity.
Earlier, the opposition had trained guns on the Uttar Pradesh government and claimed that the Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College compound had been cleared and roads were limed to welcome the deputy chief minister.
“Look at the insensitivity of the BJP government. On one hand, children are being burnt to death and their families are crying and grieving. On the other hand, lime is being spread on the roads to welcome the deputy chief minister. In a video circulating on social media, some workers can be seen marking the road with lime powder.
The fire, which engulfed the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), was allegedly caused by a short circuit. Ten newborns died, 16 of them in critical condition.
