Jesse Tyler Ferguson may have left Modern Family years ago, but he is still a hands-on dad to his TV daughter.
Ferguson, 48, has another former screen daughter; Aubrey Anderson-Emmons. In an episode of the Give Me Dinner podcast that aired on 18 June, two ex-costars had a conversation about their children recently met in Anderson-Emmons’ performance at school.
“I love Amy (Aubrey’s mom) because she will always let me know when she has a school play,” he said while introducing the actress to his show.
Ferguson told him, “I saw both of your plays. I saw burn and relativity,” while Anderson-Emmons’ 17-year-old helped him recall the name of the second show. “I always wanted to say The Theory of Everything because that’s a movie.”
The two were unanimous on Relativity – Julie (Bowen) and I agree with this.” “Firstly Aubrey you were amazing,” he exclaimed. It was just amazing. That song from ‘Relativity’ that touched so many hearts.”
On hearing this comment, Anderson-Emmons replied with one word: “Thank you.” She added though; “Very nervous for your arrival.”
Ferguson thought back on his successful acting career in theatres, agreeing with her: “Yeah I get nervous every time someone (that I know) is in the audience.”
She remembered saying ‘No’ because she said something like oh my God Jesse cannot be here. And then actually win a Tony or whatever he won it for Broadway Take me out for revival in 2022.
Because he was so accomplished at this theater” she described having him there as “terrible”.
“Oh thank God!” She answered
Anderson-Emmons couldn’t help but feel more nervous when she noticed them sitting next to each other since Jesse Tyler Ferguson sat beside Bowen where she could not miss them.
“On our way in, your mom said, ‘I’m saving a seat for you’. And of course we sat in the front row,” Ferguson revealed. “We were like, ‘Oh no. I’m not sure we need to be here.’”
“There was my sister’s school musical called Relativity that I took him to see,” wrote Jesse Tyler Ferguson in the caption while Bowen had: “Well it was one nice Outing! Jess and I watched Aubrey play yesterday and she nailed it!
Ferguson saw Burns another performance by Anderson-Emmons which he mentioned on the show and also commended her on Instagram.
“I watched my amazing faux daughter.” It is strange to think that when she met Aubrey, she was just a couple months older than Beckett! Now look at her! Congrats inside Aubrey.
