Afghanistan Jonathan Trott, the coach, blamed the team for their poor batting against India’s pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah during their defeat in a Super Eight clash of the T20 World Cup on Wednesday. He also expressed his disappointment at their shot selection.
India defeated Afghanistan by 47 runs in this first round Group 1 match at Kensington Oval.
Bumrah was almost unplayable during the game taking three wickets for just seven runs from his four overs.
“Certainly, Bumrah is going to be an important bowler for any team. And we didn’t play him well; I think that his figures tell us that we did not play him very good and obviously we spoke about it before how we were going to play him but unfortunately, they weren’t able to execute that and yeah it’s really disappointing,” said Trott according to Reuters after the match.
Trott added “Obviously disappointed with a few of the shots or decision-making.”
However, he supported Rashid Khan’s decision to use up all his overs early and emphasized on other bowlers stepping up.
According to Trott “When you bowl three for 26 I think no matter when you bowl you’ve done a good job.”
