The film portrays Janhvi Kapoor as a beginner cricketer who ends up being a professional one thanks to her husband, Rajkummar Rao’s support. In cricket matches that she takes part in, Janvi plays perfect cricket shots like straight cuts or cover shots for instance she even tries some random tackles and reverse sweeps. Somehow though, we could never find a meaningful conversation about her training. Kolkata Knight Riders’ Avishek Nayar and Vikrant Yerighetti were two coaches she had trained with according to what director Sharan Sharma revealed to ETimes. He said: “I’d heard people say that other cricket films didn’t have any truth to them; I think I’ve watched every single one of them because I’m an absolute nut when it comes to cricket.” So the film put a lot of pressure on Janhvi to remember even the smallest details. The cricket fan in me is so proud of her.
Talking about her cricket shots like the tackle and the reverse sweep, he said, “Oddly enough, the sweep and reverse sweep came very naturally to her. The tackle was something I put in while shooting the sequence. My DP and I actually suggested that it would be fun if Janhvi could pull off the Surya Kumar Yadav type of scoop that we both loved and we never trained for that shot. And so out training started during filming. The rest was forgotten by me.”
