Author Gareth Davies conducts experiment on US president-elect Donald TrumpA fast-food diet for the week, according to reports. Davis’ health deteriorated significantly telegraph. The experience made him question the long-term viability of this diet.
breakfast
Trump often skips breakfast and relies on supplements when he doesn’t eat. When he does, he tends to have bacon and fried eggs. Davis followed this routine and initially skipped breakfast altogether. On the third day, hunger hit him and he drank Diet Coke and Doritos. “When I finished my Diet Coke, I felt sick,” he recalled, adding that the lack of proper meals was difficult to tolerate.
Lunch
Trump typically skips lunch and instead snacks throughout the day. For Davis, that meant eating only Doritos, which left him hungry by mid-afternoon. “There was almost nothing healthy in those chips,” he said, noting that by the third day, he started craving something more substantial.
dessert
Trump is said to drink up to 12 cans of Diet Coke and Doritos a day. Davis started out with just three cans, but that quickly grew to nine. “I can’t understand how someone drinks 12 cans a day,” he said, admitting that the artificial sweetener in Diet Coke became his main source of hydration. By the end of the week, Doritos had also lost its appeal.
dinner
Trump’s dinner usually includes fast food such as McDonald’s, KFC, pizza or well-done steak. Davis repeated the routine, ordering a Big Mac, fish sandwich, KFC and pizza. He described the meal as cold, soggy chicken. The pizza was slightly better, but still terrible. The steak, cooked well-done with tomato sauce, just as Trump likes it, was the best meal of the week, although it was still not pleasant for Davis.
sequelae
By the end of the week, Davis had lost 2.6 kilograms, but that was due to dehydration rather than healthy weight loss. He experienced cold hands, peeling skin and low energy. His training suffered and he struggled during his usual cycling sessions. “Exercise is such a chore,” he said, his usual energy levels down.
Davis’ thoughts
After trying trump cardDavis said that after a week of dieting, “I have never felt so unhealthy in my life.” Davis believes this type of diet is unsustainable. “It’s a boring, unhealthy lifestyle full of fast food and sugary drinks,” he said. “I don’t understand how anyone could live like this for so long.”
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who was appointed as health secretary, called Trump’s diet “poison.” Daily Telegraph nutritionist Sam Rice agreed, saying Trump’s diet was extremely unhealthy.
