Wasim Akram, the former Pakistan captain, was not happy with Kevin Pietersen’s proposal for Virat Kohli to look at other clubs apart from RCB in order to win an IPL trophy.
Pietersen urged that great sportsmen have switched teams and achieved their ambitions, thus Kohli might need to do so too.
“I said it earlier and I will repeat once again – game greats in other tournaments has left teams’ roster for go and seek glory over again. When he has tried and tried so hard – won the Orange Cap yet again and done so much yet again, and the franchise fails again. I understand for the brand of the team and the commercial value he brings to the team… But Virat Kohli deserves a trophy. He deserves to play in a team that could help him get that trophy,” said Pietersen on Star Sports.
Akram on his part strongly disagreed with Pietersen remark stating that it is up to Kohli whether or not he continues playing with RCB.
According to Akram, if Kohli does not want to leave RCB then there is no point of talking about it.
“I’ve got a very firm answer. Kevin is like my brother. All these foreigners who are ex players doing commentary they tweet everything about India. I am okay with all this….it may be right but it’s nothing big deal for me. Might be huge deal for Virat though. He wants win it for RCB what would swapping out players do? He wants win it for RCB, its his call. That is my opinion; I don’t want comment on everything because this what I have learnt,” Akram told Sportskeeda.
