The Indian cricket team captained by Rohit Sharma is gearing up for the ODI series in Colombo, starting from Friday after defeating Sri Lanka 3-0 in T20I.
Having won India’s first international trophy in over a decade and then announced their retirement from the shorter formats of the game, both Rohit and Virat Kohli missed this week’s 3-0 sweep by visitors.
ODIs kick off on Friday with the first match being played at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, which will be followed by two more games also to be played at the same venue.
On Twitter today, BCCI shared a video of Rohit Sharma speaking about his partnership with Gautam Gambhir as they led India to win ICC World T20 title.
Rohit says in part of the video that “Wow! What a month it was. It was just so much fun: memories for life, history written… moments like that would stay with us forever. So much so that even now I feel like putting my pads on for this format., (laughs) no man let it go bro I had my time I enjoyed it its time to move on.”
Looking ahead to the Sri Lanka ODI series Kohli said: “Time aa gaya hai for us to get back on the field, ek naye daur ke saath ek nayi shuruyaat ek naye coach ke saath. A partnership that is going to hold Indian cricket as paramount. It’s time to hit the reset button aur ab time aa gaya hai for us to get back on the field. Wahi energy, wahi jazbe ke saath, Team India utregi phir ek baar maidan par, kuch naye aur kuch jaane-pehchaane chehron ke saath. This is Team India and this is your captain Rohit Sharma speaking. Let’s go!”
Though India might want another clean sweep but their opponents Sri Lanka are eager to win considering some setbacks and injuries which have side-lined six top fast bowlers of theirs.
