According to the IPL Player Regulations announced earlier this month, “Teams can retain a total of 6 players from their existing squads. This can be done by retaining or using the Right to Match (RTM) option. This is at the sole discretion of the teams. IPL teams can choose a combination of reservation and RTM.
Harbhajan predicted that DC might not select uncapped players but pick 4-5 players from the current roster who have played.
“Pant should be the first player retained, followed by Axar Patel and then Tristan Stubbs. In my opinion, the fourth retained player should be Jack Fraser – McGurk; if you want to keep a fifth player, it’s probably Mitchell Marsh.
Retaining five players will reduce DC’s coffers by at least Rs 75 crore.
According to the price list, the minimum retention cost for the first place is INR 180 million, the retention cost for the second place is INR 140 million, and the retention cost for the third place is INR 11 million. Three – Fixed at minimum INR 18 Crores and INR 14 Crores respectively.
The franchise cost of an uncapped player is at least INR 4 Crore.
“I couldn’t find any other players they wanted to keep,” Harbhajan further said of his Washington reserve list. “So I think Delhi Capitals should retain 4-5 players and pick the remaining squad from the (auction) pool.”
