The detailed retention rules concerning the Indian Premier League(IPL) are likely to be disclosed sometime after the meeting of the tournament’s governing council on Saturday November 22 in Bengaluru, as per a report in cricbuzz.
‘’It is expected that some formal decision is going to come up within the next few hours,’’ read the report, adding that the said notice is if order will be circulated to the members’ emails tomorrow Sunday that is if on Saturday itself.
Sources have told cricbuzz that, “it was a last minute decision to call for the IPL GC on Saturday as the notices for the meeting were sent only on Friday evening to the members”.
However there seems to be also a possibility that the rules on retention would be brought forth at the general body meeting on Sunday before the formal announcement.
The grand IPL auction is expected in the imported countries by the end of November. A relevant decision on its date may equally be arrived at during the meeting.
“Intense speculation seems to be rife over the retention and the numbers appearing to be in the range of 2 to 8. The BCCI may well settle at a number somewhere that is in between that is 5-6 with the RTM option included,” the report added.
