It is learnt from Parami News that Rahul Dravid, a former coach of Team India, may go back to Rajasthan Royals as head coach.
A trustworthy source said, “Talks between RR and Dravid are on and an announcement is just around the corner.”
Dravid, 51, has a history with RR which includes being their captain who led them into the Champions League T20 final and IPL playoffs in 2013 before donning the role of mentor from 2014 to 2015 when they finished third in IPL.
Afterwards however, starting from 2015 he became associated with BCCI as Head Coach for India U-19 and India ‘A’ teams respectively then Chairman at NCA before finally taking over as Senior Team’s Head Coach since October 2021.
However, it remains unclear whether Kumar Sangakkara will be retained by the franchise or he will be relieved after Dravid takes charge.
SL camp overseen
In another development Sri Lanka are employing an Indian hand to assist them prepare for their white-ball series against India.
Currently Zubin Bharucha the Royals’ high-performance director is involved in a week-long “batting master class” for Sri Lankan players in Colombo scheduled to end on Tuesday. His hard training methods for batsmen have been instrumental towards the growth of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel.
“From academy cricketers through internationals I’m assisting SLC coaches how they are setting up practice,” Bharucha told Parami News on Monday.
”It was Sangakkara who recommended Bharucha name for the special training session,” says one source.
