The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 player mega auction is set for a fierce competition with 1,574 players registering for the event. The auction, scheduled for November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, will see teams fill their rosters for the next three years.
A total of 204 slots are available across the ten IPL franchises, with each team allowed a maximum squad of 25 players. Indian players dominate the registration list with 1,165 players signing up, while 409 overseas players will also be hoping for a coveted IPL contract.
The registered players include a mix of experienced and new talent:
– 320 players have represented their national teams: 48 are Indian and 272 are international.
– 1,224 players are uncapped: 965 are Indian and 104 are international.
– 152 uncapped Indians were part of previous IPL seasons
– 3 uncapped internationals were part of previous IPLs
– 30 players are from Associate Nations.
Australia has the highest overseas representation with 76 players, followed by South Africa (91) and England (52). The auction also features players from New Zealand, West Indies, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Ireland, Canada, Netherlands, Zimbabwe, Scotland, UAE, USA, and Italy.
Players will enter the IPL 2025 mega auction with a base price attached to them. Teams can bid for their services at the base price or increase the offer. The teams that had employed them in IPL 2024 also have the luxury to retain them by using their respective Right to Match (RTM) cards.
