Thursday Indian military personnel reached the US Air Force’s Eielson base in Alaska to take part in a multilateral air combat exercise dubbed as “Red Flag 24.”
“Red Flag 24” is a two-week advanced training program that focuses on enhancing aerial warfare skills and tactics.
“Onward and upward. An Indian Air Force contingent arrived at Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska, USA, today to participate in the upcoming Red Flag 24 multinational exercise.
Indian Air Force’s Rafale fighter jets transited via Greece and Portugal to reach Alaska.
According to IAF, “IAF Rafale fighter jets, strongly supported by IL-78 air-to-air tankers and C-17 transport aircraft, conducted a Trans-Atlantic flight with brief stops in Greece and Portugal.”
In its statement, it added that “Pre-Red Flag is a two-week advanced air combat training exercise designed to integrate aircrews into a multinational environment.”
At the start of May this year’s first half, the India-US joint working group under Defense Technology and Trade Initiative (DTTI) had an important meeting for two days in New Delhi. Objective among other things was trying to boost defense ties between India & America.
The meeting was co-chaired by Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit of Indian air force (IAF) and Brigadier General Joel Savranek of United States. As stated by the IAF, talks centered on how best they can exploit each country’s capabilities towards improving defense cooperation including joint production efforts.
Participants like Brigadier General Joel W Savranek and Air Force Lt Gen George Thomas who is also Assistant Chief of Staff for Plans took part in such discussions meant for developing strategic plans that will strengthen bilateral defence relationship
It puts focus on partnering together through challenges and collective research goals which correspondingly goes well with DTTI mechanism since established back then tête-a-tête 2012.
