India convincingly beat Afghanistan by 47 runs in their T20 World Cup’s opener match held at Bridgetown in Barbados on Thursday, with star pacer Jasprit Bumrah taking three wickets for just seven runs during his four-over spell.
Former India batsman Sanjay Manjrekar drew attention to the gap between him and other world fast bowlers when he spoke about the class that Bumrah has.
“See the difference between him and a couple of other seamers. There were so many games where we did not concede a boundary,” said Manjrekar.
“They too were international standard but rightly so I mean, he seems to be even better than all those top-class bowlers around. These are really big gaps there and India is very lucky to have him in your playing 11,” PTI quotes Manjrekar as saying through ESPNcricinfo channel.
Former India skipper Anil Kumble also commended Bumrah’s skill and accuracy, noting how well the bowler understands his own tactics.
“You can tell this from how well he knows his bowling; even now that slower ball outside off got Rahmanullah Gurbaz out. He executes it perfectly. The execution would be perfect because he would have figured it out for every batsman and then doing it right in such a huge game too. It doesn’t come easy and I think in the entire tournament he gave minimum boundaries only,” Kumble said.
