Kendrapara People’s House The seat of former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik’s karmabhoomi, located on the coastal strip Orissareceiving national attention bjp Count on its national vice president Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda to seek his first victory.
Prime Minister Narendra, a heavyweight in the Bharatiya Janata Party ModiUP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Union Minister Smriti Irani Smriti Irani) are campaigning for Panda, who heads the party’s UP, Assam and Delhi units.
Biju, two-time chief minister
The father of the current CM Naveen PatnaikWon Kendrapara In 1977 he collaborated with the Bharatiya Lok Dal and again in 1980 and 1984 with the Janata Party.
The BJP has a tough task in the constituency as it has never won a seat in the constituency and it remains a BJP stronghold. The party was founded in December 1997, a few months after Biju’s death, and has been winning seats since the 1998 Lok Sabha elections. Moreover, the BJD won all seven assembly segments of Kendrapra LS constituency — Salipur, Mahanga, Patkura, Kendrapara, Aul, Rajanagar and Mahakalapada — in the 2019 state elections.
Panda, who had served for the BJD, had won the Kendrapara elections twice, in 2009 and 2014. Politician Anubhav Mohanty. Mohanty, who has now also joined the BJP, defeated the Pandavas by over 1.81 lakh votes.
The BJD has fielded Congress traitor Anshum Mohanty this time. The nomination of former Congress MLA Mohanty is significant as he is the son of late Biju’s protégé Nalinikanta Mohanty. From 1977 to 2004, Nalinikantha won seven times in the Kendrapararaj Nagar assembly district along with the Janata Party, Janata Party, Janata Party, Janata Dal and Congress.
While the BJD still claims a vice-like hold on its traditional bastion of Kendrapara, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sees an undercurrent in favor of Modi this time, not just in the constituency but across the state within the range.
“Baijayant Panda is very hard-working. I appeal to everyone to vote for him so that he wins with a record margin,” Modi said while speaking in Kendrapara on Wednesday.
Panda said the people of Odisha, including Kendrapara, have decided to usher in change this time under Modi’s leadership.
“Odisha has been deprived of development opportunities as the BJD government has hijacked central planning. Odia Asmita (pride) is now in danger as Tamils (indirectly hinting at BJD strategist VK Pandian) have captured Naveen babu,” Panda said. Panda fell out of favor with Naveen in 2018 after indirectly accusing Pandian, who was Naveen’s personal secretary at the time.
At the recent election rally in Kendrapara, Naveen and Pandian came down heavily on Panda. Without revealing his name, Naveen said the former had “betrayed” the people of Kendrapara.
“I had someone as Kendrapara MP for 10 years. However, he worked only for his own prosperity and corporate profits and did nothing for the people. He betrayed Kendrapara people.
The BJP accuses Kendrapara of continuing to be plagued by problems such as low prices for paddy, abandoned river embankments, lack of cold storage, poor condition of roads and widespread irregularities in rural development works, but the BJD claims that Kendrapara is undergoing a transformation.
The party is also keen on Japan’s Nippon Steel and ArcelorMittal’s proposal to set up a steel plant in Kendrapara. Naveen said the joint venture AM/NS India has announced an investment of Rs 102 crore to set up a state-of-the-art steel plant with an annual capacity of 24 million tonnes using sustainable technology at Kendrapara.
“The people of Kendrapara support Naveen Babu’s development agenda. BJD will continue to retain the seat, thanks to people’s blessings.
Despite all odds, Congress candidate Sidharth Swarup Dash is expected to die. “I may not be able to match the money muscle of the BJD and the BJP. But I am confident that the people of Kendrapara will give their mandate to the Congress,” Dash said.
