Bangalore: National Research and Development Corporation (natural resources defense council) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) enter into a key partnership aimed at fast-tracking the commercialization of innovative technologies developed in India international science academy.
The collaboration, formalized through a memorandum of understanding signed on Friday, aims to promote technology transfer, protect intellectual propertyand provide guidance to new ventures.
“IISc, as a leading institute in the country, excels not only in ground-breaking research but also in intellectual property generation and technology transfer. The collaboration with NRDC is expected to further strengthen these efforts and I am confident that this partnership will promote rich Effective and lasting collaboration,” Professor Suryasarathi Bose, Chairman of IISc Intellectual Property and Technology Licensing (IPTeL) told TOI.
Leveraging NRDC’s vast experience in technology transfer and intellectual property rights management, combined with IISc’s cutting-edge research capabilities, the alliance is expected to play a key role in converting laboratory innovations into market-ready technologies, thereby contributing to India’s socio-economic growth .
With more than 5,100 technology transfer agreements and more than 2,000 patent applications, NRDC brings valuable expertise to this collaboration. The partnership is in line with NRDC’s existing programs, including the Program to Incentivize Inventors and Innovators (PIII) and the Program for Development of Commercialized Technologies (PDTC), both of which operate under the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR).
“This collaboration reflects the synergy between top R&D institutions and organizations like NRDC to unleash the potential of Indian innovation,” an NRDC representative said at the signing ceremony.
