During Week 3 of the NFL season, the defense strategies of the Dallas Cowboys were awful in the game against the Baltimore Ravens, which led fans of the NFL and analysts to blast everything about the Cowboys’ defense. Rex Ryan Is a veteran coach known for his strong personality, but I could say hot garbage, as he did on the ESPN pregame show about the Cowboys’ defense.
Rex Ryan Blasts Cowboys Defense After Tough Loss
A day after the Cowboys’ 28-25 loss, Rex Ryan and other people’s sentiments about the cowboys were exactly the same; most of the commentary being, the score really did not do justice to how dominant the cowboys were in that stretch.
In the second half of the game for a lot of the time, the Cowboys were the second best party in the game. After 45 minutes of play, the score was 28-6 in favor of the Ravens, as they were in control of the battle in the inside. It was only at the last period that Dallas crept back courtesy of a run out of 19 points but by that time, it was clear that the Ravens had taken their foot off the pedal.
When it comes to Rex Ryan and the loss, he had an experience, ‘what the hell they did all week’, in regard to how they performed, particularly looking at the preparation and the overall execution in practice and the game. This is not where Ryan’s displeasure ends.
“I look at a team like this and I say, I say I wonder what the hell they did the whole week. … It’s a development that everyone experiences once in a while but never consecutively while playing at home.”
While on ESPN’s Get Up, he was shocked with the reasoning that the Cowboys could not stop Derrick Henry at all. The other was that training caused him to expect too much. He admitted, however, that such things could happen once. But he said, no, to have it happen two weeks in a row especially, at home, is a cause for concern.
Rex Ryan was not the only situation to put Dallas on blast. Ex head coach of Cowboys, Jason Garrett, also, pinpointed darling boys on certain non-physical aspects which were observable in the 3rd week of the season. Lack of physical dominance of the Cowboys in the game raises the question on the weeks to come.
Dallas will have very little time to clear the dust after facing the New York giants in Week 4. This Thursday night matchup is perhaps the most critical for the Dallas Cowboys considering their schedule gets very tough following this game. After this match, they will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road, then the Detroit Lions at home, then they will go to Atlanta Falcons and finish off the season with a game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
A foreboding road looms ahead and if the Cowboys fail to fix their defense and become more physical, tougher days than these could be imminent. It is a defining moment for Dallas, and the way they would rise to the occasion will in turn shape the course of the season for them.
