Animal activist Rashmi Gautam is a popular Telugu television anchor and actress.
She advocates for animal rights through her use of social media, such as Instagram, where she posts pictures of stray dogs, hens, cows and elephants being mistreat. Irrespective of receiving backlash from her followers on the internet, Rashmi Gautam is still committe to her career because she says it means everything to her. During an interview with Hyderabad Times, she emphasized on how important it was to conduct sensitization campaigns.

“I’m against poultry because it’s not fair and healthy to eat animals fed genetically modified food with little care,” said Rashmi before adding “I quit taking dairy products because I don’t want to support animal cruelty. Rashmi is joining other animal rights activists and welfare organizations in calling for stronger laws to address cruelty to animals. “Can you imagine that cruelty will be fined at Rs 50 only?” she said in her speech when talking about a bill she has been fighting for. “We need to seek this minimum as well as over five years imprisonment before anyone engages into any form of animal’s cruelty acts. This is ought to put fear among people.”
