Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra anticipated Rohit Sharma’s future with Mumbai Indians saying the young cricketer had already played his last MI match and would not represent the team next season.
Rohit removed as captain at the beginning of IPL 2024 when Hardik Pandya came back to take over the captaincy.
“I think they will let Ishan Kishan go. They might use the ‘Right to Match’ card because 15.5 crores is just too much money. I don’t think Ishan will be retained,” Chopra said on his Youtube channel.
Chopra admitted that he may be wrong but saw a situation where either Rohit did not want to be kept or else he was released by the franchise.
“Either way, I see them parting ways. I don’t think you will be seeing Rohit Sharma in the Mumbai Indians jersey again. That’s just my understanding. I might be wrong but I feel, either which way, Rohit Sharma will not be playing for the Mumbai Indians when you start the next season,”the former Cricket expressed himself further.
Rohit had an up and down campaign, finishing with 417 runs including a hundred off 61 balls against Chennai Super Kings.
In his last league match of this year, Rohit nicknamed “Hitman” for his attacking play and big scoring ended with a fifty off 28 balls after going seven previous innings with only 88 runs between them.
