New Delhi: Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud recently shared memories of his days as a host in an interview with All India Radio (AIR).
Recalls how he listened to AIR announcements (Hindi, English and Sanskrit) with his parents and eventually became a part of Akashwani himself.
Looking back on my childhood, CJI Chandrachud Talk about being attracted to the famous voices of news presenters.
“The famous voice of Devaki Nandan Pandey would announce, ‘Yeh Akashvani hai; now you are hearing the news of Devaki Nandan Pandey,'” he recalled.
He also admired the delicate voices of Pamela Singh and Lotika Ratnam, recalling their iconic introduction: “This is All India Radio; the news is read by Lotika Ratnam.
Talking about his association with AIR, CJI Chandrachud said that his mother was a classical musician and often took him to mumbai studio When he was in third or fourth grade.
Later, when he moved to Delhi in 1975, he auditioned for Akashvani and started acting in Hindi and English. “But my personal connection with All India Radio, my mother was a classical musician, so when I was a kid of three or four, I visited these studios in Bombay with my mother. In 1975 I When I came to Delhi, I was told that I could audition for Akashwani. I started doing many shows in Hindi and English. I still remember my first show, when I was also working on All India Radio. Western music was produced.
Chandrachud further spoke about how he used to host Western music performance During that time, AIR developed a unique association with the iconic broadcaster.
