new delhi: former indian cricketer Robin Uthappa He has broken his silence after an arrest warrant was issued against him for allegedly defrauding Employees Provident Fund (EPF) deposits.
“In light of the recent news of the PF case against me, I would like to provide some clarification regarding my involvement with Strawberry Lenceria Pvt. Ltd, Centaur Lifestyle Brands Pvt. Ltd.and Berryz Fashion House,” Uthappa said.
“In 2018-19, I was appointed as a director of these companies because of my financial contribution provided to them in the form of loans. However, I hold no active administrative role and am not involved in the day-to-day operations of the business. With my busy schedule as a professional cricketer, TV presenter and commentator, I had neither the time nor the expertise to be involved in their operations. In fact, to date, I have not held a senior executive role in any other company that I have funded,” he added.
“Unfortunately, these companies failed to repay the funds I lent them, leading me to initiate legal actioncurrently under review. I also resigned as a director a few years ago. when Provident Fund Authority When I sent notice demanding payment of dues, my legal team responded by emphasizing that I had no role in the companies and providing documentation from the companies themselves confirming my lack of involvement. Despite this, the EPF authorities are continuing the proceedings and my legal counsel will take necessary steps to resolve the matter in the coming days,” Uthappa said.

District Provident Fund Commissioner Shadakshara Gopala Reddy issued a warrant on December 21, directing Uthappa to pay outstanding dues of Rs 23,36,602 (approximately US$28,500).
Centaur Lifestyle Brands Pvt. Ltd. based in Indira Nagar, Bengaluru, has been asked to appear before the commissioner before December 27, 2024.
The warrant was sent to Prakesh Nagar police station requiring arrest and appearance in court within 24 hours unless dues and a processing fee of Rs 5,000 are paid.
