Michael Hussey is a former cricketer who no longer wants to be considered for the job of India head coach.
It has been said that Rahul Dravid may quit as head coach after the Americas T20 World Cup, leading to speculation about potential replacements like Ricky Ponting and Justin Langer from Australia.
However, all these aspirants have turned down the bid publicly for different reasons. Also in spite of different speculations on how to address this position BCCI denied approaching any of the ex-Australian cricketers for this prestigious role being played by foreign coaches as reported by Indranil Basu in Cricbuzz, 18th September 2021.
Hussey said: “But I don’t really focus on what I want out of playing anymore so – you know – if it works out, likes…I think I enjoy that balance”.
“I just love the fact that besides play which I barely do now days; I am an assistant coach or a head coach and then media work at times. Let me explain what I mean by saying that”.
“I like that balance and still being at home at times. So at the moment there is fullness in terms of time spent with family you always crave for more time but bucket is full.”
Beside his role with IPL Hussey is also currently coaching Welsh Flames during hundred games. At home during Fox Cricket Australia’s summer tests he also commentates.
“They probably played most cricket matches in the world and they are constantly touring. So it will be quite a challenging task, you’ve got to stay level-headed,” he concluded.
When he was asked about having another chance, Sangakkara replied, “I have not been approached by anyone and it could not be possible for me to take up a full-time coaching job in India because my hands are already filled with my duties for Royals”.
