On Thursday, Indian Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw retaliated against opposition members who had shouted at him during the railway accidents. He told the parliament that his predecessors in UPA had poor railway safety records.
While addressing the house, there were loud slogans and chants of “reel minister” from the opposition benches, to which Vishno replied sharply: “Hum reel banane waale log naheen hain, hum mehnat karne waale log hain (we are not people who make scrolls; we are hardworking people). Automatic train protection (ATP) or even 1 km. Today they dare to ask questions.
“He asked them if this is how they would run a country when Mamata Banerjee was Railway Minister and she used to reduce the number of accidents from 0.24% to 0.19%, these people used to clap in the House and today when it has come down from 0.19% only Is this how they would operate as a country at 0.3%?”
The Railway Minister also accused the opposition of instilling fear in hearts of twenty million people traveling by rail every day.
“Congress is busy building a store of lies that is not going to succeed. Sometimes they disparage the military, sometimes they disparage railroads; this kind of politics doesn’t work,” he said.
‘Congress is pushing false information with its army of social media trolls.’ ‘Are they trying to instill fear in hearts of two million people travelling by rail everyday?’ He said it himself.
Opposition leader’s comments come after calls on government by different political sections urging it take some actions against trains crashed recently and sack Vescher.
