Hong Kong: A Top Official in Hongkong Government has urged U.K to allow the populations “know the truth” passed away This month saw one man charged for helping a foreign intelligence service of that territory.
The statement from the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau released in the evening said that Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Edward Yau of Hong Kong and UK Deputy General Counsel met to discuss the incident, which included concerns about four deaths in Maidenhead, southern England.
Matthew Trickett, one of three individuals accused with two offences under Britain’s national security laws is being investigated by British police over his unexplained death at 37. This legislation was enacted last year and brought in new measures against foreign threats.
Trickett, a 37-year-old former Marine who was employed by a private security firm; Chung Piu-yuan, an office manager at the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) in London aged 63 years; and Chi Leung were told on May 13th during their court hearing where they were granted bail.
According to the charges, these three men between December and May helped foreign intelligence agencies as well as “agreed to engage in information gathering, surveillance, or deception within the territory.”
Hong Kong returned to China from Britain after 156 years (in1997).
Moreover he added that it is essential “to let the public know the truth, prevent groundless speculation” ,and ensure that HKETO London functions normally. The Chinese Embassy in London claimed that UK had fabricated charges against them while they also stated it had no right to interfere into affairs concerning Hong Kong.
