New Delhi: Ministry of Home Affairs launched on Sunday disciplinary action be opposed to Kolkata Police Commissioner and DCP Central for”defamation” this Governor’s Office of Bengal.
“Based on a detailed report submitted by Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose, the Union Home Ministry has taken disciplinary action against the IPS officers,” the Press Trust of India news agency quoted an official as saying.
A few days ago, Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose wrote to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) seeking the removal of Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal and DCP (Central) Indy Indira Mukherjee’s job.
The official added that the Bengal governor also accused other policemen of Raj Bhavan of promoting and encouraging fabricated allegations against a female employee between April and May 2024.
“The conduct of these IPS officers not only tarnished the office of the governor but also acted in a manner totally unbecoming of a civil servant. They conveniently chose to ignore the Rules of Conduct,” he told PTI.
Mukherjee is heading a special investigation team probing the molestation allegations against Bose by former Raj Bhavan staff.
The sexual harassment investigation complaint filed with the Hare Street Police Department did not name Bosse because of his constitutional immunity. However, the FIR has charged several Raj Bhavan staff with criminal conspiracy.
The staff has moved the Calcutta High Court seeking quashing of the FIR. The matter is pending.

Bose criticized her remarks and expressed hope that public representatives would not create “false and defamatory impressions.”
