Manali: Heavy snowfall hit Manali in Himachal Pradesh on Monday, stranding around 1,000 vehicles and their passengers between Solang and Atal tunnels. The police launched a rescue operation and moved about 700 tourists to safety. The snowfall caused prolonged traffic jams, with police and local authorities assisting drivers and travelers in the difficult situation.
This was caused by an increase in the number of tourists visiting the area during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
Shimla also received fresh snowfall after a two-week break, boosting the local tourism industry affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Tourists are extending their stays to enjoy the snow, and local businesses are hoping for a longer tourist season.
Visitors expressed their joy at experiencing snowfall. Hemant, a tourist from Rewari in Haryana, said: “The sight of snowfall is so beautiful. The weather is amazing.
